Guillain-Barré syndrome (GBS) is a rare autoimmune disease in which the immune system attacks the neuronal processes (axons) of healthy nerve cells. It causes muscle weakness, loss of reflexes, numbness and tingling in the arms, legs, face, and other parts of the body.
